What is the psychology behind witch trials?
What happened?
It had place in Salem Springfield, Massachusetts 1692. they believed some of women there were witches. Twelve other women had previously been executed in Massachusetts and Connecticut during the 17th century. The episode is one of Colonial America’s most notorious cases of mass hysteria. It has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations, and lapses in due process.[1] It was not unique, but a Colonial American example of the much broader phenomenon of witch trials in the early modern period, which took place also in Europe.

The witch trial of Salem.
The witch trial was occoured in Massachuetts between 1692 – 1693 but what was the whole thing about? Around 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft, some of them were women, men and children. Out of the 200 people, 20 of them got executed. Later on, the colony admitted that the trials was a mistake and apologizedthe families of those convicted. Women back then had no power to say or do anything. If there was an intelligent woman (who was smarter than a man) they immediately thought that she was a witch. Because women aren´t supposed to be smart or have a saying.

English 6 witch hunt
The Salem witch trials
This is taking place in the young years (the year 1692 and 1693) of the united states of America, back then when people still were pretty “dumb”.
More than 200 people were accused under that time, most of them being women. And more than 19 were executed by hanging.
There was one man who was executed by pressing him to death. He got accused because he tried to make a soup with flowers.
This howl thing started in central Europe and because of Europe’s colonies. I think it’s because of the low levels of education.
And back then it was really dark and the only source of light was candles so that created a lot of weird shadows.

The real witch hunt of Salem:
What happend was that people started to accuse other people of doing witchcraft.
this happend between Febuary 1692 and May 1693, this was the deadliest witch hunt of the United states.
The people that was accuse of witchcraft was killed by mostly hanging.
I Think people did this because they were stupid and bored something had to happend.
