Creative writing I

Today we will do creative writing. Read a text, react and write. You will read what you have written to the class.

Jonatan will be your teacher, I’m at the dentist.

Part I

The Day the Saucers Came, Neil Gaiman

That Day, the saucers landed. Hundreds of them, golden,
Silent, coming down from the sky like great snowflakes,
And the people of Earth stood and
stared as they descended,
Waiting, dry-mouthed, to find out what waited inside for us
And none of us knowing if we would be here tomorrow
But you didn’t notice because

Continue writing the story, according to your imagination. Write 10-15 sentences, at least. Or roughly half a page.

In my restless dreams, I see that town… Silent Hill. You promised you’d take me there again some day… but you never did. Well, I’m alone there now, in our special place… waiting for you.

  1. Creative Writing I

    Text 1
… you were deep beneath the face of the earth. You and your mates had predicted the invasion of these creatures, that were luring inside these saucers, that slowly came closer and closer. Underground, still standing, were the old tunnels from the time when mining was a big job in you little town. Your father and his brothers had been working there when they were younger, and you yourself had been down there, learning every turn and twist of the net of tunnels.
Together with your friends you run further and further in, taking a right turn, then a left and after that another right turn. Your destination was a long forgotten, underground bunker, where the mayor of the town used for hiding when the Nazis invaded. But after that event, it had been standing empty, and gathering dust. Its purpose was to give rescue to the people of the surfacing town, at grave danger.
You had begun your journey downwards before lunchtime, and you knew that you only had a few turns left before you had reached your destination. But it was then you heard thumping noise behind you. Like someone, or something heavy running in your direction. You started to run, and your friends that also seemed to have heard the noise, followed you in a rapid pace. After the last right turn, the door to the bunker showed itself. You ran to it, and started to turn the wheel, but in vain.
The thumping noise behind you slowed down, but you knew that the thing or person that had made the noise were right behind you. You turned slowly around, to face the creature, and in front of you stood the most disgusting beast you had ever seen. It had orange skin, long, pale hair that hid the monsters face. It was curled up and you knew it was your new leader.

    Text 2
Together with my sister, we ran for that abandoned hotel. That scary-looking house that had been empty for ages. All way back when the apocalypse hit our world. We entered it in a hurry, looked for something that could hold the door shut, and then we started to scavenge. Find anything that we could find useful. We split up and I headed for the west wing. In a normal hotel, it was there the rich and fancy families lived if they would have stayed there. It took about ten minutes to get to the west wing, and it was then I smelled that odd smell. It reminded me of some experiment we had done in chemistry. Sulfur. I picked up a dropped hammer, and started to be on my guard. Every time I entered a room, that sulfur smell came back. And the light from outside started to dim, and I began to feel scared. I ran back to where I thought my sister were, but she was nowhere to be found. She didn´t even answer when I screamed her name. I went down a stair and came to a door where t stood “REFRIDGERATOR ROOM”. I opened the door slowly, and there, inside hanged my sister, with a screaming face, with a rope around her neck. The sulfur sent started to surround me, and when I started to turn around to run up and back out, I felt something cold get a hold of my throat. I started to scream, but before I even had get any sound out I felt the cold, deathly rope pulling the last strands of life out of me, and suddenly it all went black.

    Text 3
You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, ill rise
Ill rise as the sun outside my window
Ill rise as the dead from their graves
When ill rise, I feel alive
And alive I always shall stay
    History can be a disaster
    History can be great
Because it tells everyone a story
a story that describes the good and the grim
    that has shaped our future
that future that always will be unsure
and in the end, we all end up in the same place
down in the dirt, where new life begins
and down in the dirt where it all ends
lies and truth its all the same
    for Him who take
    and for him who gives
    we are separated in life
    but connected in death

  2. The day the saucers came:
That day, the saucers landed. Hundreds of them, golden, silent, coming down from the sky like great snowflakes. And the people of Earth stood and stared as they descended, waiting, dry-mouthed, to find out what waited inside for us. And none of us knowing if we would be here tomorrow. But you didn’t notice, you didn’t care because were already aware.
You had warned them, you had told them what was coming but no one would listen. Your attempts to be heard were futile, every word silenced by those who were too blind to see. And now it was too late, their ignorance and arrogance could ultimately be the end for us all.
You sat waiting, waiting for what you knew was coming, for what you had known all along. The only salvation from them, the ones emerging from the sky, were out of reach. If only they would have listened, if only they would have believed there would be a chance. A chance for us to hold them off, to make an escape and start over, somewhere else, far away from this doomed wretched place.

    Silent hill:
In my restless dreams, I see that town… Silent Hill. You promised you’d take me there again some day, but you never did. Well, I’m alone there now, in our special place… waiting for you. Waiting for you to keep your promise, waiting for you to meet me, in our special place. And waiting here I will remain, until we meet again, until I see your face. And so I will remain here forever.
It is fitting, Silent Hill is where I saw you last, Silent Hill is where I, will be last. Laying down to my final rest, taking my final breath and finally greeting you again. The waiting and longing has to end. Your last day should have been mine as well, but life is cruel, fate is cruel and therefore I have to create my own.
I can find comfort that we now will, in some sense, be bound together forever. There, keeping us together, standing forever, remaining the same forever, is our special place… Silent Hill.

    I’ll rise:
You may write me down in history
    With your bitter twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

You may break me down to pieces
With your words sharp as knives,
You may throw me to the ground
But still, like feline, I have many lives.

  3. 1. But you didn’t notice because I was reflecting over my life. Reflecting over my life, because for the first time in my life I realized that I was a piece of garbage. I had just dropped out of collage to start a rapping career and becoming the next Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne had always been a big inspiration to me and the way he write his lyrics, his humble yet determined attitude and his incredible ability to constantly entertain the crowd amazed me deeply. This may sound a bit odd, since I define myself as a straight man, but I eventually fell in love with him. I guess I never quite understood when it happened, but one morning when I woke up, I realized, to my surprise, that I was developing a crush on the handsome young man.
    2. The town was first abandoned in the late 70s when the industry was shut down and the jobs moved to the big neighboring city. At first the population dropped rapidly until about half of the houses were empty, most of the shops had been closed and the previously, ever crowded marketplace were nothing but an empty square. Following the rapid decline of population, the inhabitants who still remained loyal to the town were mostly to stay put, even though it meant that there were barely any available jobs and no open supermarkets or stores. The latter was the most problematic since the city were about a 2 hour car drive away and most of the residents either couldn’t afford….

  4. I was tired from last night when I was working a late shift at the docks. Something special happened, a guy drove in a huge boat that was at least a 59 footer it had multiple helipads, one bubble bath each side of the boat,
One hour after it got in the docks two helicopters flew in and landed on the boat, the guys that jumped out of the helicopters had really big machineguns. Then I ran into my office, took cover and call the cops and told them everything I have seen, the police I talked to said that they would send multiple officers by boat and in cars and also a helicopter.

This building was my home for many decades, I lived there every day for these decades without going outside my skin had become pale white as white as a corpse, I had lost my legs and my left elbow. I was sitting in a wheelchair so it was very hard to move forward with just one arm and no mobility in the other one. And one day a war began it flew bombs around every single corner of this town. All started evacuate this town this, this hole and this building. And there I was left alone because they had a great rush; to get me out was hard, I lived on the top floor…
And few days after everyone had left the war ended, I was still stuck up there. I found a room full with food.

You may write me down in history
    With your butter, twisted, lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, l’ll rise
You may not think, but I will,
I will make my chicken and rice
You may think It has a bitter taste
But wait you might get surprised
You may wonder what just happened
I had just got my supplies
You many get angry if I told what I have put in…

    Part 1

That Day, the saucers landed. Hundreds of them, golden,
Silent, coming down from the sky like great snowflakes,
And the people of Earth stood and
    stared as they descended,
Waiting, dry-mouthed, to find out what waited inside for us
And none of us knowing if we would be here tomorrow
But you didn’t notice because out of nowhere
Your grandma appeared right before your eyes
With a shocked smile you slowly approach her
Small steady steps, now only a couple of feet away
Trying to utter some long lost words
    But without any response
Why is it that I cannot speak to her
when I need it the most
You never had the chance to say what you needed to say
before it was too late and she disappeared
Right before your very own eyes
Oh how you wished that you spent more time
to tell her how you felt
That you appreciated every single thing she ever did
    Slowly regaining your conscience
    Suddenly not there anymore
It seems it was just a dream
From the bottom of your very own heart

    Part 2

In my restless dreams, I see that town… Silent Hill. You promised you’d take me there again someday… but you never did. Well I’m alone there now, in our special place… waiting for you. I’ve waited long, very long to even catch a glimpse of you. Nothing. There isn’t even any noise here, if you look past the thoughts in my brain that penetrates these brick-walls.
Where are you now? Have you found someone in your life that treats you well? For the longest time I really believed I was the one to make you happy… I can’t stand the thought of you giving your love to anyone besides me. Pain, so much pain I wouldn’t even consider trying to describe it, immeasurable amount of pain. Indescribable.
Where are you now? I just wish you were here with me, in this very moment. We could live the happiest life you’d ever imagine here. Right now. Come so that we can finally continue to live out our dream, just like we discussed a long time ago.
    Where are you now?

    The poem

You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
    Never will I give in,
    I will always keep fighting
    Never going to allow myself
    To be struck by lightning.
Lightning you are, out to destroy
    Seeking to tear us apart
You can’t accept, that we are
    Just as we were before.

Waiting, dry-mouthed, to find out what waited inside for us

But you didn’t notice because amidst the equally silent chaos that reigned amongst your brethren, you found yourself filled with a foreign feeling
A feeling so strong that it drowned out any and everything else
A feeling of dreadful anticipation, but also of joy
One that made your muscles tense and heart sing in beautiful contrast
Because as soon as the emerald-greens and sapphire-blues of the approaching planet came into view you knew… you were home.

I felt my heart failing me, skipping one- two- no, three beats! ‘What has she done?’ I thought, staring, my gaze fixed on the phone desperately clutched in my hand.
    It dropped to the floor.
My mind was racing, images, sounds, and memories passed me by as I threw myself after it. I immediately pressed the ‘Call’-button, and felt my breath grow short as the tones kept ringing.

You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

You may distract your next from me,
To hide from your own shame
You may think it does you good,
But you’ll always feel the same

  7. I commented on another post by accident so I will post it here as well

1 … A saucer had landed on the person next to you’s head and when it did, it blew her head up and all that was left was pink mist. The people started panicking, running towards safety but there was none. Person after person exploded, but you wre still there on your feet ready to fight of the evil, because little did they know; you were immortal. While the saucers one by one left little dents in your meat-suit, the extent of the damage was not enough to slow you down. You ran through the streets dodging every obstacle that blocked your path, you dodged, dipped, dove, ducked and then dodged again until the sky was clear of the golden saucers. you looked down on your body and realized that there were more blood on you than inside of you, it didnt bother you though, you just licked your lips and swaggered down the blood covered streets. There was no longer anything that stood in your way to become the most powerful person to walk the earth, because there were no longer anyone but you on the face of earth.

2 … You made me a promise that you couldn´t keep but now I’m going to keep mine. You promised you would never leave me but you did and I remember us sitting here on the roof of the old Hotel, talking about everything and nothing all at once. You always threatened to push me off because I got under your skin, but I always answered with ”I’d drag you down with me and it’s a long way down”. Now you’ve left me all alone and you promised me that you would have my back, but you let that be the death of you. I told you to not fight my fights for me anymore but you didn’t listen, and now all I want to do is join you and live wherever it is that you are. but I made a promise too, I peomised you that I would not give up and I’m here to tell you that I won’t. I won’t give up, I will fight because I don’t know how to die quietly and I will carry your memory with me ’til the day I leave this earth to join you again.
I turned around and stepped of the roof and made my way towards the door, the door that would lead me to live the rest of my life without him but also the door that will lead me to live the rest of my life as a stronger person than I have ever been before.

3 You may write me down in history
    With you bitter, twisted lies
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise
You may wash me away like the foam in you hair
But still, like air, I’ll be there
You may throw me away like a worn out cloth
But still, to your flame, I’ll be the moth
You may forget about me at night
But still, like the sun,I’ll be your light
