  1. It seems to be a ceremony in a church or a castle. There is people that seems to be part of the ceremony as public persons and people belonging too a group(the ones in red and white). There are 2 persons that are in main focus and that the ceremony seems to be about

  4. The scene is a place in presumably a royal castle because you can see the queen of England. There’s also people, presumably kings and formal people, from other countries on a visit. The queen is reading from a book, probably like a speech of some sort.

  6. There are a lot of people in a room. Most of them are wearing white clothes with red robes. All of them are turned towards two people sitting on golden chairs. The queen and the king. Next to them are their henchmen. The king is dressed in black and the queen in pure white with a crown on her head. The room they are sitting in is decorated with golden emblems and figures.

  8. Comparing A and B
Both are pictures of the opening of the house of commons in England and Riksdagen in Sweden. Both openings have the royal family holding a speech to the members of the houses. But that’s where the similarities stop. The whole house on picture A is decorated with golden emblems and fancy statues. Compared to picture B where the whole room is fairly commonly decorated and they are not making such a commotion with the event. The english ceremony is more structured and they focus on english tradition and to maintain the belief that the queen is something important even though she does’t have anything to say in politics. Each of the english houses have special dressing codes. The house of commons with their regular suits and dresses. The house of lords with their white robes and red mantles. The British judges with their wigs on and the royal family with fancy clothes and gold. Compare this the Swedish participants. Of course they have some more formal clothes on them suits and dresses but there are no color codes or anything specific to wear. You see one guy wearing a grey suit with a pink tie. A pink tie would probably be deemed disgraceful and insulting at the British event. You can see colors from yellow all the way to black. Also the King of Sweden is not wearing something particular and there are no golden emblems. For the Swedish people the event is focused on the matter at hand instead of exaggerating with decorations just because the royal family is participating.

  9. The biggest different between A and B are how much energi and how much more traditional A look like than B.
In B there are also a king but he does´t dress up like the english king and queen does, I think that the king in Sweden doesn´t have that power that the english queen does. Thats probably why our Swedish king dress normal ( in suit ) than with a fancy traditional suit. In B the people that are sitting and listening on the king are looking like they dosen´t want to be there and dosen´t look like they have that much respect towards the king. In A you can see the common and royal people all dress up traditional to listen to the queen and it seems that the queen/ king have more power and respect than the Swedish one.

  10. Picture A and B

The one of the British parliament is lots of old traditions and everyone is sitting close together so you notice that it is a small room while in the Swedish Riktsdag you can see that they have a little more space and are using different technology to make sure everyone can hear the person speaking while the queen of Britain seems like she is just using her voice so everyone has to listen carefully.
To sum up the britts are deep in tradition while the swedes abandoned some of that and don’t think its too important.

  11. The difference between A and B is that A is more colorful than B. The picture B is using more technology than A. A is using more like middle-aged style for instance they have candles, a king and a queen. In the picture B the people are wearing more modern than England. In Riksdag they are using microphones, but England’s parlament doesn’t use microphones. Last but not least Sweden doesn’t have a queen in Riksdagen, but England do have a queen.

  12. the pictures A and B, as you could see, the brittish people uses old style clothes and an room that looks old with a lot of gold and everything is very old looking, while in Sweden they use microphones, more modern looking tables and chairs, everyone is dressed in suit and tie. but they are stil the same in some way, in both pictures the royal person like the king or the queen reads of a premade text about what the government will do and just act like a face for their country.

    C and D

The big difference between the two is that the first funeral is more socialist where everyone is together singing songs and honoring him. And the Brittish one is more kind of worshipping where everyone is forced to look at the casket and be sad.

  14. The British one has much more decoration than the Swedish one. For example they have all kinds of golden and red carpets, the thrones are also golden. The Swedish one has only some flowers. The king on of the Sweden don’t have crown. The people in British one have fancy clothes and some funny hairs. In the Swedish one they only have suits.

  15. Differences between A and B.
In picture A we can see that the British people are willing to remember the past. The time when they were a huge empire. They are still keeping the old traditions. Their meeting room is more decorated. They got golden symbols and decorated carpets and walls.
In picture B you can see that the Swedish are willing to forget the past. The room is not really decorated. There are some flowers but that’s all. It mostly looks wooden and not very colorful. The technology they are using is far mode advanced than in the first picture. The swedish use microphones and digital stuff while the British are still using candles….

    Similarities between A and B.
In picture A we can see that everybody is dressed formal, even if there are some cultural differences between the participants.
In picture B we can see a more modern meeting, where everybody is still formal. It’s just another kind of formal.
In both pictures there is somebody talking to a group.

  16. Picture A and B.

Picture A is of the opening ceremony of the Houses of parlament. In the picture we can see very pompous clothes with golden lining and some wearing wigs. The golden statuette behind the queen and the whole Royal Family standing at her side. There are crosses symbolizing their faith in god and emblems and shields of the British Empire.

Picture B is of the opening of the swedish ”Riksdag”, there we have a similarity, one of the few. The clothes of the swedish people are more normal, that an everyday joe could wear. There are very few decorations except a row of flowers in front of the swedish king. There are no signs of religion, which could be because Sweden is such a multicultural country. There are also no signs of ”The Swedish king is so great” stuff, like a fricking golden encrusted shield symbolizing the Royal Family.

The Swedes are much more timid in their way of acting and are much more held back on tradition and religion due to the multi cultural state that Sweden is in.

Not much could be learnt just by looking at these pictures, I wouldn’t know it would be a funeral at all. As comparison I see that the United Nation picture with Olof Palme is not as formal as the England one, the England picture shows us that the funeral is something really special and we can see that just by looking at the picture.

  18. A – B

the comparisent between A and B is that in picture A they are traditional and were wigs and crowns while in picture B they are more modern and advanced they use microphones and computers and picture.

  19. Pictures a-b:
In picture A the people are very traditional and up dressed in old clothes. The whole thing is very old fashion. Mean while in picture B the people are more modern and more laid back then the people in picture A.
It’s very Swedish to be laid back so we sit in a half circle so we don’t have to face the opponent, but the British are more on point and not afraid of facing things.

  20. C&D: Picture C is a picture of Olof Palme’s grave, the people in the background are having a speech in his honour, the people to the left are holding pieces of paper with lyrics. On picture D they display Winston Churchill’s grave, this grave compared to picture C is more traditional than the first one. Traditional meaning that picture D has royal guards anf they display their flag, to me it feels like in picture D they show that they are more special compared to picture C, picture C is more of a normal funeral compared to picture D.

A big part of the British royal family are in place at the ceremony while only the king of Sweden is there to perform this action. The British ceremony takes place in a more historical and relgious way, with the classical flag of GB with English, Scottish and Irish flags on it. There is also a flag of the saxon which describes the history of emigration were they moved from mainland Europe to the Isles, while fighting the romans. The Swedish doesn’t describe a thing, it’s sterilized and plain and just doesn’t explain a thing about history or other things, just a man in suit speaking infront of people instead of a old women in a dress with a 55m cape speaking infront of people with wigs which look like they came from the 18th century France, and people with robes that has the same color scheme as santa claus.

  22. In picture A everyone is formal and they are doing this because they have been doing it for a long time, it’s a tradition. In picture B everyone is less formal, it’s just another day at the job for them. In picture B hey are more laid-back and it’s not as important as for the people in picture A. It looks like they haven’t changed a thing in picture A for a hundred years. They have been doing it the same way for a long time ans they aren’t planning to change it.

  23. A-B
the British opening ceremony is more fancy and old school the the Swedish where its more common and not att all as fancy. Both have the head of the royal family there to hold a speech in front of all the politician. At the Swedish opening there is just politician and at the British there is nobels and politician.

  24. C and D are both funerals and you se clearly that they are just that. but the funeral in picture D is more like a kings funeral. He´s the central of attention. Whit every one around him. Like a funeral like the 1800. In picture C it is more like a more moderate funeral.

  25. Picture A and B

The pictures show the opening of the British parliament and the Swedish riksdag. In the picture of the British parliament you can see a lot of tradition. In the form of dressing codes, the red carpet, golden decoration and how you can clearly see who is royal because of the thrones and the crown. Whilst on the Swedish side, there is no special way of dressing that shows who is important.

    Gilla

  26. In image D we can see that it’s an particularly special occasion, they have royal guards and a golden cross, This golden cross is a sign of faith, compared to FN where they don’t have a particularly strong faith. FN focuses on the future and what they should do next, instead of morning the dead ones. In image D the focus is on the dead person compared to image C where the focus isn’t on the dead person.

  27. In the pictures A and B we could see a lot of cultural differences and similarities. How the brittis people uses a lot of fancy clothes, wigs and decorates the room with much gold , which in a certain way feels a bit funny and maybe ridiculously. The swedes are dress in more every day clothes and uses more modern technique when talking, like microphones and computers. In the picture the british royal family are putted in a higher place then the rest, but the swedish king are not.
